Sometimes you encounter gardens requiring a complete revision of the surface heights (the previous cut & fill) to get surface water to drain away from the house and to create useable garden spaces. In this garden we did both and created some lovely areas for children to play. We gave the deck some height (previously it was buried) and flattened/expanded the lawn. Interestingly, the regraded lawn area now sits slightly above the height of the deck making the lawn a focal point and giving it a stage type feel.
There is nothing more joyful than watching a garden entertain a group of children and this garden keeps them happy and outside for hours. Hiding in cubby house, hoping along rocks and running barefoot across a thick, squishy lawn this natural garden is a special place for kids of all ages.
