Before I arrived a huge, senescent gumtree had been recently removed leaving a steep, dry front yard lacking sufficient structure to retain soil and moisture. Given the surrounding abundance of canopy cover (Templestowe) and bird habitat the owners had planted in the neighbouring road reserve, the emphasis for this space was on a feature Indigenous grassland reminiscent of EVC 22: Grassy Dry Forest but intermixed with their favourite Australian native small shrubs and plants.
For me, working with great gardeners is a huge advantage and makes my job really easy. All glory to Rose and John, the owner/gardeners who have shaped this garden through time. Local Indigenous plants sourced from Edendale Indigenous Nursery (Eltham) and Australian native plants from BAAG/ Kuranga.
