Garden Sunlight mapping

Through the course of the day, your plants will come to and fade from visual prominence as the sun travels across the sky

Take a copy of your finished base drawing with you into the garden.  Check that is pretty close to being right. Later on, you will use your drawing to estimate plants and materials so it is important you are working to scale. Orientate your drawing by aligning it with what is on site. Using a compass (there is one on your phone) put a North arrow on you drawing. Now imagine the path of the sun through the seasons. Through the year the path of the sun changes. Allow for this and try to imagine where the shadows will be. From this exercise you should have an idea of which bits of the garden are full sun, which are part sun and which are full shade.
