“Great landscape design is about finding the right balance between sensory experience, lifestyle utility, habitat creation and a deepening of our connection to place. A design should bring an immediate sense of maturity to a garden and as a space we so often share the garden should deepen our connections to our local community.
Natural gardens make use of rock, natural stone, flowing water, recycled timber/brick, rusted metals, exposed aggregate concretes, permeable surface finishes and help retain stormwater in the soil. When these elements are brought together microclimates emerge that enhance your gardens resilience and create floral resources and homes for local wildlife. I love to think that the gardens I build are part of a bigger picture of supporting local ecology and creating valuable pockets of urban habitat within the city.
My ultimate vision for any landscape project is to deliver my clients a place where they feel at home and are inspired to be outdoors. Be it for play, to connect with nature or for the sense of stillness and peace one gets from being in a natural environment, the home garden can and should offer it all” Ben Crisfield-Smith
